Redevelopment Area Blaine MNThe Blaine City Planner shared that the city would like to see the property redeveloped to a commercial us and would be open to re-zoning to accommodate commercial development.   Per Brian Schafer, the City of Blaine Community Development Director, the subject property is part of a 36 acre area which has been identified as a land use change in the 2030 comprehensive plan to Planned Commercial/Planned Industrial.  This redevelopment is expected to occur within the next several years and will result in a higher tax base, employment and improved aesthetics.  The city has identified the same area as a “key redevelopment area” in the comprehensive plan.  The new land use could offer Retail, Service, Entertainment, Restaurant, Banks or Manufacturing.
